Hi, everyone, my name is Marlene. I’m from college group and currently studying nursing in Assunta College. I thank the church for giving me an opportunity to be on stage and share my testimony. Today I would like to share how God brought me back to Him and how He has blessed me in my life.
Before I share about that, allow me to let you have a glimpse of my background. Born in a Christian family, I had been staying in my auntie’s house at Melaka for quite some time since childhood. My cousin and I were regulars in the Sunday school; therefore, Christianity and Jesus are not strange for me. However, when I finished primary school, I shifted to KL back to my family. You all might assume that I would stay with my family. But no, I did not and the hostel became my home instead throughout my secondary school life in KL even right till now. During that period, my parents and I didn’t attend church because they were busy with their business and I wasn’t sure which church to go to. My life went haywire, made worse by the strained relationship with my parents. We didn’t understand each other. Whenever they gave me advice, I won’t listen to them. They put me under a strict regime during school time and limited my activities such as shopping with friends and staying overnight at their house. But the rebellious me disregarded all that and I even cheated on them. All these caused much hurt to my Mom. My studies were a mess too and I failed to get any good results. Despite all these trials, praise the Lord that He still loves me and so does my Mom. My Mom finally understood later on that perhaps school is not a suitable platform for me to further my studies and forcing me to continue with it might affect my future. Therefore I left school after SPM and continued STPM in TARC. While I was there, I started joining Christian Fellowship. My parents also brought me back to church.
Back in church, my life started to have a turn-around. My relationship with my parents grew better and my Mom and I even started opening our hearts to share our feelings. Because I came from a Chinese school, I’m not very good in English. I didn’t even know how to construct proper sentences and communicate with others in English. This caused a major struggle in my studies during STPM. But praise the Lord, I managed to overcome this hurdle at the end with God’s strength. Without Him, I wouldn’t be able to be here right now to share my testimony in English. Even though I didn’t manage to further my studies in university after STPM, studying in TARC managed to improve my English, and this is also what my Mom hoped to see by sending me to that college.
Studying nursing in Assunta is also I believe, God’s plan for me. Why I said so is because of what happened one day during my STPM exam when my Mom came to my hostel to look for me. She passed me the student intake form for a nursing course and asked me whether I’m interested. She knows that I like biology very much and also that I like to help people. Actually I wanted to study bio-tech after STPM, but she advised that this is not a good time to study bio-tech in M’sia. She suggested to me nursing instead. She told me nursing is not only about biology but also helping people at the same time. Most importantly I will be able to use this profession to share the Gospel. I took some time to think and finally decided to take up this challenge, filled up the form and went for the interview. Before the interview, I pray to God and said to Him, “If nursing is really Your plan for me, please let me go through this interview successfully. Whatever Your plans are, I will obey.” After my STPM exam, I received an offer letter from Assunta. So I obeyed His plan and joined nursing January last year even though my STPM results were not out yet.
God blessed me tremendously once I started the course in Assunta. Throughout my 3 years there and 5-year contract with Assunta, I continuously prayed to God and told Him my desire to find a local church to serve Him because I have already wasted much of my time in unfruitfulness. I don’t want to waste anymore time. My prayers were answered when my seniors Patricia and Xin brought me to church and their care group. So I started to join their activities there and praise the Lord, my Mom and I were even water-baptized last year. My Dad also gradually followed my Mom to church every Sunday. I believe that God will touch my Dad’s heart one day and he will accept God as His Lord and Saviour. I also became an official member of the church effective from last year 3rd quarter. Early this year, I told God that I want to serve in a ministry and become a shepherd. God again, answered my prayers. I currently serve in the Registration ministry and I’m doing follow-ups on the visitors and I believe, God willing, my prayer to become a shepherd will be answered by end of this year. God really opened a lot of doors for me to serve Him through the Registration ministry, my care group, and church events.
On the other hand, God not only blessed me in ministry, but also in my studies. From not knowing how to speak English to be able to communicate in that with people now; from not being able to read English newspapers to be able to read and understand English books now. There’s still room for improvement though in terms of vocabulary. But I’m still continuing to learn. Not only that, there’s major improvement in my exam results too and my scores are much better regardless of theory or practical; another remarkable evidence of God’s blessings on my life.
I’m very thankful to God for bringing me back to Him no matter how worse I was before him. So, I want to use my testimony to encourage all brothers and sisters, no matter what happens in your life, God still loves you, He won’t leave you alone because we are all His children. His promise never changes and He has the best plan for you.
I would like to end my testimony with this verse from the Bible: Jeremiah 29:11-14. Thank you
Shalom and great day to all of you, i’m reading Life on Purpose for Men. It’s a daily devotional book which helps me to grow with practical faith and profound insight to know God for everyday. I know each one of you are reading through Bible and some christian books everyday, why don’t we keep this as a blessing to our CG as i would like to invite and encourage all of you to share your thoughts each time God touches you with His words. We want to grow together and we want to see more of God’s leading in us. Let’s encourage one another with God’s word and we shall see more of His plan for us. =) I really appreciate if everyone can take part and respond through writings in email or sharing powerful testimony during CG. Thanks for your partnership in Christ!
Here are something i want to share on Waiting for God’s BEST!
Have you been working on your own accord to try to “make something happen” in your life? Maybe it’s a relationship or job issue and many times we choose to think that maybe we can “help God” by trying to make something happen… but Brother and sister, often time when we do so we will miss out on God’s best for us! We ought to be like David who had to do a lot of waiting in his life and was blessed beyond belief by God. In Psalm 27: 14, David says : 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Dear brother and sister, whatever it is, slow down and wait patiently on God’s timing. Begin today to move at God’s perfect pace and receive all that he has planned for you.
Isaiah 30:18
18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
he rises to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
Let’s pray together
” Lord, You know how hard waiting is for me. Please give me the patience I need to wait for your perfect timing in everything. Help me not to settle for second best. When I’m tempted to “make something happen”, speak to my heart and remind me what my impatience can cost me. Help me to not only wait, but to do so with a good attitude. Thank you for all the blessings You have in store for me.”

God healed Set Yee of a cyst in the womb
[Set Yee giving testimony of healing at Supernatural Sunday]
In Oct 2006, I went to visit a gynecologist. The doctor told me that there was a cyst in my womb and the size was 2.8cm x 3.4cm . He said if it grew larger than 3cm x 3cm, I’ll need to go for surgery to remove it. After prayers on Friday night, I went for my second check up and the doctor confirmed that the size of the cyst became smaller. It is now 2.6cm x 1.96cm which is half of the original size. Thus, I don’t need to go for any surgery.

I got filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues non-stop on Friday night. Latter, I found that the pain in my legs were gone. The pain in my lips caused by ulcers and red spots also went away.

God healed Evelyn Wong of back pain
Ever since secondary school, I had discovered that my back was always in pain, but I just ignored it. I continued to live my life without care for my back, but the consequences is; I had to bear the great pain whereby I just can’t explain by words, something like my back bone nerve being pierced by nails. The doctor told me that I have Scoliosis or the sideways curvature of the spine.
During the prayer, I felt someone touch my forehead, and my body starting to feel release. I felt like I could stand without feeling any stretching or pain in my back anymore. He healed me immediately after that prayer. I no longer experienced any pain or compression in my back and I felt very comfortable, even though I was standing at the time. I know that God really heard my cries. I know that He is my heavenly Father, and I know he doesn’t want to see me bear the pain alone.
by Jessie Tang
It has been more than 13 years since I last visited Ipoh. The first trip was when I was 13 years old, our one and only family outstation trip.
This trip came to pass because of Chee Lim, my boyfriend wanted me to meet his parents for the first time (okay, sounds like I am getting used to the term boyfriend when I describe him). When I was asked who I should invite to come along, of course all my sheeps / ex-sheeps come to mind. Finally, Susan and Wan Tin decided to join us.
I was rather nervous, as I wasn’t sure what to say to them and all but I really thank God for the two of them because they will say the right thing at the right time. It all started with a heavy dim sum breakfast where his mother happily ordered a lot of food and they help me to finish most of it. We are a team, we eat as a team and we walk as a team.
We went to visit his aunty who is now in her final stage of cancer. We went to pray for her and told her that God is great and He can heal all our sicknesses. She was touched by our presence and we even invite a few Hope sisters to visit her on Sunday after the Service. Let’s continue to pray for her salvation as well.
God is so great. Due to the fact that we have limited time to spend with his family, I didn’t really get to talk to them. But on Sunday afternoon, I managed to speak to his mother. Just me, Chee Lim and his mother. I decided to pray for her before we leave and God really led me to pray in Mandarin. I do not know if I have made any impact in her life but I do pray that she will feel God’s love in us.
God has reminded me of the many things that I have forgotten over the years. He has given me so many giftings that I have not fully used for His glory. I have a clearer picture of what God wants me to do now but I still need to prepare myself. I do not really know how but like Isaiah said to God in Isaiah 6:8, “Here am I, send me”. I am ready to be used by You, Lord.
God made us all differently. Some are talkative; others are just good in listening. It took me a while to accept the fact that God created every single being to be different and unique and He has a reason for doing so.
My parents have very different characters. My dad is a Choleric Sanguine. He can talk non-stop but he has a controlling nature. When he speaks, no one else should unless he asks questions. My mom is a Melancholic Phlegmatic. She only speaks when my dad is not around and she can be very emotional over petty issues. They both drive me crazy until I learn to see them as the way God created them to be.
Since young, my dad has never expressed his love to us verbally but he would buy us items that we wanted, without seeking for our opinion. I still remember my first mountain bike, personal computer, and table tennis table. All these were delivered to our house without our knowledge. Maybe dad loves surprises but we don’t. I used to complain that the color of the bike is not right, the games in the computer are not popular and the table is not supposed to be blue. I have never thanked my dad for giving me all these gifts.
My mom is always complaining about everything. She believes that incessant nagging will get things done but I don’t. Okay, maybe it worked sometimes but it really gets on my nerves when she keeps repeating her sentences. I remember how I used to answer her sarcastically and hurt her feelings by doing so.
Please don’t get me wrong, I love my parents very much but sometimes I just can’t take their behavior. I used to wish that I don’t have to stay at home so that I can escape from all these but little do I know that I would miss them so much when I am away from them.
I guess you won’t know how much you have got until you are about to lose it. My parents are not getting younger each day. I have come a realization that I might lose them one day and I don’t have that much time to share with them. When all these thoughts came, my eyes are finally opened. I began to see the love that my dad tried so hard to show to me but I ignored. I began to miss my mom’s voice nagging me about not helping her with the laundry and leaving my belongings everywhere in the house. Nothing has changed, except the way I see things.
I certainly hope it is not too late for me to show love towards my parents and I pray that my testimony may encourage you to do likewise. Ephesians 6:2 “Honor your father and motherâ€â€”which is the first commandment with a promise—
